Complete a realistic cross-app business workflow using Copilot in Chat, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Lab Overview & Objectives

Most Copilot training teaches one app at a time - but real work flows across applications. A single deliverable might start with research in Copilot Chat, move into a report in Word, require supporting analysis in Excel, become a presentation in PowerPoint, and end with a summary email in Outlook. Microsoft 365 Copilot is designed for exactly this kind of cross-app workflow.

In this advanced guided lab, you will complete a realistic end-to-end business scenario: preparing a market-trends deliverable for leadership. You will use Copilot Chat to research your topic, Word to draft a professional report with file references, Excel to build supporting data analysis with charts, PowerPoint to generate a presentation directly from your Word report, and Outlook to compose and send a polished summary email with all deliverables attached. By the end, you will have experienced how Copilot compounds productivity gains when used across the full Microsoft 365 suite.

Objectives

Upon completing this advanced level lab, you will be able to:

  • Use Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat to research a business topic and synthesize web-grounded insights into structured notes
  • Draft a professional multi-section report in Word using Copilot, referencing external files and applying prompt engineering best practices
  • Build a supporting data analysis workbook in Excel using Copilot to generate formulas, create charts, and surface key trends
  • Generate a presentation in PowerPoint from a Word document using Copilot, then refine slides with speaker notes and design adjustments
  • Compose and send a polished summary email in Outlook using Copilot to draft the message body, attach files, and adjust tone
  • Apply effective prompt engineering techniques across all five Microsoft 365 applications
