About the role

CloudLearn gives learners real cloud environments instead of videos. A lab launches in under two minutes, the learner works in real AWS, Azure, Kubernetes or Docker, and automatic checks confirm each step.

We are a startup, so this is not a role for one slice of the stack. You will know the whole application inside out, from the Next.js platform and APIs to the workers that provision cloud environments and the infrastructure underneath, and you will be the person who gets things delivered when they need to be.

Development comes in bursts. Some weeks are full of new features or a customer request with a deadline. Others are quieter and go to reliability, cleanup, support issues and helping the content team with lab tooling. We want someone who is comfortable with both.

What you will do

  • Own the platform end to end: the learner app, the operations dashboard, the provisioning workers and the cloud infrastructure.
  • Ship features across the stack when they are needed, from the database model to the UI.
  • Keep lab environments reliable, secure and cost-controlled, and fix production issues when they come up.
  • Turn customer and team requests into working software, often with a tight turnaround.
  • Make sensible technical decisions on your own and keep the codebase easy to change.
  • Support the content team with lab tooling, environments and automation.

What we are looking for

  • 5+ years building and running production web applications, ideally including time at a startup or small team.
  • Full-stack range: strong TypeScript and Node.js, React or Next.js, and comfort working on the backend and infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud, preferably Azure.
  • Experience with a document database such as MongoDB, or solid data modelling skills.
  • You learn an unfamiliar codebase quickly and can own it without a large team around you.
  • You deliver: you can take a loosely defined request and ship it on time.
  • Clear written communication. Most of our work is async.
  • Based in Canada and legally able to work here.

Nice to have

Not required. Apply even if you have none of these.

  • Azure Functions, Durable Functions or Azure Container Apps.
  • Infrastructure as code with Bicep, ARM templates or Terraform.
  • Kubernetes or Docker in production.
  • Stripe billing or multi-tenant SaaS experience.
  • An Azure or AWS certification.

Your first months

  • Week 1: Get set up, walk through the whole system and ship your first change to production.
  • Month 1: Know your way around every part of the platform and handle production issues on your own.
  • Month 3: Be the go-to owner of the platform, delivering features end to end as they come up.
